Hyderabad: Of the total energy generated in Telangana, one-third comes from renewable energy. To become an energy-efficient State, the government aims to generate 20,000 MW of renewable energy by 2030, Energy Secretary, Government of Telangana, Sandeep Sultania said.

Addressing the 3rd International Conference on Green Technology, Policy and Finance (ICGTPF), organised by Chandradeep Solar Research Institute, Sultania said that Telangana has put in place policy guidelines to boost renewable energy. “Telangana government aims to generate 20,000 MW of green energy by 2030 and 40,000 MW by 2040, from the present 8,938 MW. Telangana aims to be an energy-efficient State.

Tenders will be called soon for the installation of solar power plants,” he informed. Sultania urged industry to invest in innovating affordable battery storage technology. “As we do not have lithium resources a lot of research is going on that front.
